Prerequisites
You must have the Cargo Lot - Split BL privilege to access the Actions Split BL option.
In N4, you can move Bill of Lading (BL) items from one BL to another BL, this is referred to as splitting the BL. N4 allows you to split BL items from one BL to another existing BL or to a new BL. For more information on the restrictions, see Cargo Split BL form (on page 1).
To split the selected BL Items:
In the Items tab, select the BL items that you want to split to another BL.
Select Actions Split BL.
In the Item Split BL form:
In the BL Number field, enter the ID of a new or existing BL.
Click Save.
If successful, N4 moves the selected BL items from the selected BL to the specified BL.
In addition to the BL items, you can directly split cargo lots (on page 1) from one BL to another existing BL or new BL. The selected cargo lots must be associated with the same BL. In this case, N4 automatically creates the BL Items for the selected cargo lots.
When you split a BL:
When you perform a cargo lot operation if the cargo lot quantity is adjusted to a value less than the work instruction quantity and if you confirm the cargo lot adjustment in the confirmation message dialog, N4 updates the the work instruction quantity to match with the cargo lot quantity.
Assume we have a cargo lot with quantity 100, and it has an existing work instruction for 100. If the lot quantity reduces to 80 when you perform the cargo lot operation (for example, recording damage), N4 updates the work instruction quantity to 80.
If the lot quantity reduces to zero due to any cargo lot operation and if you confirm the adjustment in the confirmation message dialog, N4 deletes the existing work instruction.
